Event Banners 2024
A series of attractive banners to promote island events, festivals and visitor attractions during the summer months have been installed at Guildford Square.
Summer 2024
Hanging Baskets & Gardens
The BID have hung 12 hanging baskets by the amphitheater.

Work has begun to clear the weeds and maintain the garden surrounding the amphitheater as well as some of the flowerbeds along the front.
Summer 2023
Direct Distribution Campaign
The BID created and printed 30,000 leaflets to be distributed in main tourist attractions, hotels and stations in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Glasgow Subway Carriage Cards
Catching the visitors to Glasgow during the Easter break the BID took a 2 week advertising campaign on the subway. With over 40 carriage cards showcasing the Visit Bute brand and picturesque images from Bute.
Holiday West Highland Editorial Spotlight
Bute has now featured in 4 seasonal editions of the Holiday West Highland magazine with editorials and adverts featuring businesses on Bute.
Return to the Ramparts
Working alongside Rothesay Castle and Achievement Bute the BID used the projectors to project drawings created by local children onto the castle walls for the re-opening of Rothesay Castle in March.
Art Projections
Working in collaboration with IBAC the Bute BID illuminated the nightscape by projecting a few local artists' work onto Rothesay Castle's wall.
Pub Trail Leaflet
After a meeting with the local island publicans it was requested that they would like a pub trail leaflet created. This was designed and printed then distributed around the Bute businesses.
M8 Advertising Campaign
The Bute BID took a 2 week advertising campaign on the lead up to the September 2023 holidays on the M8 motorway unique digital billboard from 75 Media.
Visit Bute Maps
Visit Bute maps we re-designed and then printed in English, French, German, Italian and Dutch. These were then distributed around Bute businesses and the Friends of Wemyss Bay Station Bookshop.
Visit Bute Welcomes Cruise Ships
Passengers disembarking the visiting cruise ships to Rothesay were greeted by
a traditional Scottish bagpiper and highland dancers as well as a Visit Bute representative who gave out information packs.
Christmas Light Switch On 2022
The night was a great success and a huge thank you goes out to everyone that participated especially Jane Ross, Emma Gray and Grey the dog, Father Christmas, Ricky Harrison and the local nursery and school children.
A map for Port Bannatyne
The beautifully map, on the side wall of the bakers in town, designed and in memory of Anne Garner with John Williams photographs around is admired by many of Bute's visitors so it was decided another was required for Port Bannatyne.
Historic Signage
The historic signage in the Amphitheatre was dated and worn so this was removed, updated and new boards installed.
Streetscape Painting
Donald McPhee was contracted to paint the railings from Craigmore to the Pavilion as well as the blue flowers pots and the bollards around town.

Shop Front Grants
In an effort to improve the appearance of the streetscape, and buildings on Bute, in 2022 and 2023 the BID provided local businesses the opportunity to apply for Shop Front Grants, of up to £750.
Street Cleaning
In 2022 the BID arranged with contractor Martin Ferguson to powerwash the streets within the townscape to improving the towns cleanliness.

Amphitheatre Alfresco Seating
During Covid the BID set out tables and chairs to allow people to enjoy take aways from cafes and restaurants whilst complying to social distancing outdoors. This project is ongoing and the tables and chairs are set out daily throughout the summer months.
